The Clinical Director, Higher Education is a member of the JED Campus team and the position is an excellent opportunity for mental health clinicians who are seeking to utilize their talents to benefit the mental health of college students on a national level. The Clinical Director, Higher Education will be the program’s primary advisor and subject matter expert on mental health, suicide prevention, and the college student. The Clinical Director will report to the Director of the JED Campus program and work closely with JED’s Chief Medical Officer, and the entire JED team.

Clinical Director Position Responsibilities:

  • Program Development and Implementation 
    • Recruit, train, and manage diverse pool of 4-7 current and new consultant Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to support JED Campus goals and priorities on a consultative basis
    • Collaborate with JED Campus team members to support all JED Campus schools, including review of data, preparation for virtual and in-person meetings, attendance at site visits, and ongoing follow-up and as needed technical assistance. Collaborate with JED Campus team members and school teams to develop and execute strategic plans and measure the efficacy of the mental health promotion and suicide prevention efforts they implement on their campus
    • Provide ongoing and as needed support to participating JED Campus schools on mental health promotion, suicide prevention and substance abuse programming, services, and policies through direct outreach to schools and by participating in the learning community via webinars and online discussions
    • Conduct workshops, trainings, and presentations across JED Campus schools, at conferences, and for other relevant audiences
    • Collaborate with Program Evaluation team to ensure effective measurement and reporting of programmatic impact
  • Advising and Thought Leadership
    • Stay current on college mental health and suicide prevention best practices, literature, etc. through independent research and reading and participation in relevant conferences and convenings
    • Assist with professional development and clinical oversight of JED Campus Advisors 
    • Serve as an expert resource to colleges and universities and to JED  staff
    • Collaborate with JED’s Chief Medical Officer and other clinical personnel to ensure consistency and alignment of clinical approaches across The Jed Foundation
  • Resource Development 
    • Help to curate  JED’s Comprehensive Approach, Frameworks, Playbook, etc. to ensure our model(s) are current and relevant for the higher education audience
    • Lead vetting of current and potential resources for higher education community (playbook)
    • Assist in researching and creating new resources for the JED Campus learning community
    • Create content for and facilitate webinars
    • Create content for newsletters and blog posts
    • Write point of view and other documents to share with higher education community

Qualifications and Experience:

  • MD, PhD, PsyD, DSW, or EdD degree required
  • At least 15 years professional experience in young adult mental health, including clinical experience in the higher education setting; established leader in higher education mental health
  • Suicide prevention experience, education, and research; is strongly preferred
  • Successful track record of program development and leadership
  • Self-driven and results-oriented with a positive outlook
  • Excellent oral and written communication, and comfort supporting member campuses through in-person, telephone and virtual communications
  • Experience and comfort with presenting to large groups, including senior leadership
  • Strong research, analytical and critical thinking abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop relationships with individuals and organizations
  • Experience working with Salesforce or other CRM systems preferred
  • Experience working on a highly effective team strongly preferred
  • Ability to travel to campuses seasonally and other conferences, trainings and workshops (20% travel)
