I’m a senior studying at Frostburg State University, and I’m majoring in social work with a minor in psychology and an emphasis in addictions counseling. I am keenly passionate about helping individuals affected by mental health and substance abuse disorders. I value the power of prevention and education, as well as the ability to break down barriers. As a result, I am actively involved in various student organizations emphasizing social change, community, and advocacy. I am involved in the Student Government Association and in NAMI Maryland groups and programs in my community. I am also passionate about the power of story-telling! Expressing oneself freely and creatively through the arts moves individuals in a compassionate way that inspires introspection and action. Moving individuals in a compassionate way are what JED’s story is about and I am eager to participate in JED’s student advisory council.
