Senior Advisor for High School Programming


Position Overview:

JED is seeking a full-time Senior Advisor for High School Programming to play a key role in our growing organization and support our expanding portfolio of work with high schools across the country. The position reports to the Director of High School Programming.

Responsibilities:

Strategy and Program Development:

  • Conduct systematic reviews of high school-based mental health assessments, mental health programming, and suicide prevention programs and resources and make recommendations for adoption to the Director of High School Programming
  • Conduct periodic systematic reviews and scans of trends in high school health / mental health and state and federal legislation related to mental health education and programming in schools to inform the continued development of the High School Program
  • Collaborate with a range of internal staff and external partners (including JED Campus team, marketing/communications, external vendors, organizational partners, etc.)
  • Collaborate with High School Director to:
    • Manage systematic integration of Set to Go and JED Campus activities
    • Set up and manage evaluation measures and data collection mechanisms for the high school program
    • Manage and run meetings with advisory board of experts working in high school and mental health settings

Resource Development and Dissemination:

  • Develop new resources, including guides and webinars, on mental health and the transition to college for high schools, students, and families
  • Develop new resources, including guides and webinars, on mental health and suicide prevention for high schools
  • Develop and execute dissemination plans for high school resources (often via external partnerships with schools, districts, direct-to-youth organizations serving high school students, etc.)
  • Possibly in collaboration with the Learning Community Coordinator, develop and manage a high school ‘learning community,’ to which we would disseminate newsletters, webinars, and other new resources on a regular basis

Program Management:

  • Manage ongoing high school mental health curriculum training pilot
  • Develop business plan for growing high school mental health curriculum training

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Masters degree required, preferably in public health, education, or a related field
  • 3-5 years professional experience with strategic program development and program / project management
  • Experience in training, advising, or consulting around school-based initiatives, preferably in the high school environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Strong research, analytical, and critical thinking abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills, including comfort with establishing new partnerships
